This hotel is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The natural surroundings are stunning with a mountain stream flowing amongst the buildings in a deep valley of the mountains. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with kerosene lamps and a low table in the daytime. The breakfast is delicious and beautifully arranged. I especially loved the view of the hill and stream from my room.
All was perfect, no complaints.

This hotel in the mountains is a true gem with its breathtaking views, serene location in a deep valley with a mountain stream flowing amongst the buildings, and attention to detail. The kerosene lamps in the rooms create a beautiful ambience, and the breakfast is simply delightful with its Japanese way of serving at low communal tables.
No negative aspect.

A Hidden Gem of Tranquility
I recently had the pleasure of staying at a charming ryokan nestled in a scenic valley. The entire atmosphere of the place was simply enchanting. It was like stepping back in time, away from the hustle and bustle of the modern world. The traditional Japanese room with tatami mats and futons added to the authentic experience.
I must mention that the lamp oil smell in the guest room was a slight drawback. Although it added to the authenticity, the scent was a bit overpowering at times.

The hotel's cleanliness, facilities, and staff were all outstanding. The hotel is located in a deep valley in the stunning north Honshu mountains. Transportation was easy during New Year's Eve, and the hotel offers parking. The staff was accommodating despite the hotel not accepting credit cards. Breakfast was delicious and served in a pleasant environment.
All was good.

What an incredible experience! We had a romantic escape in the mountains and it was worth every effort to get there. The limited access to technology allowed us to disconnect and enjoy each other's company. The traditional Japanese room had the perfect balance of simplicity, comfort, and beauty. The hot springs were amazing - with natural, warm water, and stunning views of the surrounding nature. We also loved the traditional Japanese mountain cuisine, particularly the freshly cooked local trout and the delicious sake.
It takes some effort to get to this incredible place, so make sure to plan accordingly. We had to take a train and a bus to get there.

During our trip to the snowy Tohoku area, we were pleasantly surprised to discover a beautiful onsen with a rustic charm that was easily accessible by public transport. The tourist information centre was conveniently located nearby and staff were very helpful in directing us on how to reach the place. Although the inn only accepts cash payments, we were forewarned by other guests and had made the necessary arrangements. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, offering to turn off our car lights in the car park when we forgot. The traditional Japanese meals were exquisite and the four different baths provided a relaxing experience. We especially enjoyed the outdoor bath with a stunning view of the surrounding mountain scenery.
The traditional Japanese lamps that adorn the room, while adding to the charm, may not be suitable for those who are sensitive to the smell of kerosene.

The location of this mountain retreat was amazing, offering an escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The traditional ryokan-style rooms were charming and authentic, making us feel like we were living in a different era. The onsen baths were the highlight of our stay, offering varied and splendid experiences. We particularly enjoyed the outdoor baths, surrounded by pristine nature, and the staff was friendly and attentive to our needs.
While we understood that the hotel offers a unique experience, we found that the lamps used in the ryokan were overpowering and emitted a strong kerosene smell that was hard to escape. while we loved the traditional futons, we found them to be thin and not as comfortable as we would have hoped.
